Crime and violence in society is a cause of so much grief and sorrow. Man has no answers because he cannot change his basic nature. Christ's law though will be irresistible, absolute and infallible, for none shall be able to resist him to whom "all power in heaven and earth has been given". We are promised and indeed look to that time when as Isaiah prophesies:

"Out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem, and he shall judge among the nations and shall rebuke many people". Isaiah 2V3

Indeed the time is coming when Isaiah says "The isles shall wait for his law"

Jesus will be a merciful and righteous King for we read "He was tempted in all points like as we are yet without sin". Because of this, Jesus is well aware of all the temptations and trials we go through. Jesus said of his judgement:

"My judgement is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me" John 5v30

Jesus knows what is in our hearts because again as Isaiah says:

"The spirit of the Lord will rest on him - The spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and of power, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord - and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness will he judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist." Isaiah 11v2-4

There will not be laws in the Kingdom for one section of the community at the expense of another. The rich will not benefit over the poor, the more able over the less able. None will feel disadvantaged and unlike man's law, the will be no need to change or amend those laws. Christ's rule and law will be perfect, for he will do his fathers will. We cannot imagine what it will be like. A world at peace, ruled by a wise King. David writes speaking of God's law:

"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them is great reward." Psalm 19v7-8

God has promised that those who are faithful now, will be with Jesus, granted the privilege of dispensing God's justice with him. What an honour! God's law is perfect, and when mankind lives according to that law, they will live in true and lasting peace and safety. So we have every encouragement to believe and serve our Lord faithfully, keeping his commands, for our hope and reward is assured, if we have faith.
